Description | An enriched integrated pre-service course and content experience providing an overview of schooling and classrooms from the perspectives of language, gender, socio-economic status, ethnic and academic diversity and equity with emphasis on factors that facilitate learning; provides students with opportunities to participate in early field observations of P-12 special populations. Learning Outcomes | Upon successful completion of this course, students will: Identify current issues influencing the field of education and teacher professional development. Analyze the culture of schooling and classrooms from the perspectives of language, gender, socioeconomic, ethnic, and disability-based academic diversity and equity. Provide examples from classroom observations and course activities that demonstrate understanding of educational pedagogy and professional responsibilities of teachers. Evaluate personal motivations, educational philosophies, and factors related to educational career decision making. Recognize the various multiple intelligences/learning styles in order to be able to implement instructional practices that meet the needs of all students. | ||||||||

COVID 19 Information | The Lamar State College Port Arthur (LSCPA) Student Code of Conduct COVID 19 Policy requires students who have been diagnosed with COVID 19 to report their condition directly to their local health department. Students should also contact their course faculty to report their quarantine status. In addition, this policy requires all students to wear face coverings when directly exposed to COVID 19 in compliance with the criteria included in the policy.
